Privacy Policy
Wadiget works without an account and without signing in. We do not collect anything that personally identifies you. This page explains exactly what the app does send, why it sends it, and how you can have it removed.
In short
- No account. Nothing asks for your name, email or phone number in order to use the app.
- No identity tracking. Your installation is known only by a random number created on your device.
- Nothing is sold. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone, for any purpose.
- You choose what is public. The only information that ever appears publicly is what you deliberately submit to the Wall of Supporters, and you can withdraw it.
What the app collects
- Anonymous installation ID A random number created once on your device the first time the app runs. It is not derived from your hardware, your Google account or your advertising ID, and it cannot identify you. It exists only so that repeated reports from the same installation can be counted once.
- Usage statistics Which screens are opened, which widget was viewed, added or placed on a home screen, and basic technical details: device manufacturer and model, Android version, app version, and the language and country already set on your device. This tells us which features people actually use.
- Approximate area If you allow location, the app sends your city name and time zone to our servers, tied to the anonymous installation ID. Your exact coordinates are never sent to our servers. This is used only to understand roughly where the app is being used.
- Crash and error reports When something fails, the app sends the error message, the technical stack trace, the app version and the device model so the fault can be found and fixed.
- Location, for prayer times and weather Prayer times are calculated entirely on your device and your coordinates never leave it for that purpose. For the weather widget, your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to return the current conditions. No identifier of any kind is attached to that request.
- Messages you send us If you write to us from inside the app, we receive your message, any replies in that conversation, and the email address you choose to include. It is used only to answer you.
- Purchases Purchases are handled by Google Play. We never see or store your card, bank or billing details. We receive only the confirmation that a purchase happened, so the app can unlock what you paid for.
The Wall of Supporters
If you choose to support the app, you may add yourself to a public Wall of Supporters. This is entirely optional. Supporting the app without appearing on the wall is completely fine.
If you do join, you choose a display name, a country, an avatar picture from a set we provide, and optionally a short message. Once approved, those four things are shown publicly to everyone who opens the app, along with the tier you supported at. Nothing else about you is published: not your email, not your city, not your installation ID.
Submissions are reviewed before they appear, so that names and messages which are abusive or impersonate somebody can be refused. You can withdraw from the wall at any time from inside the app, which removes your entry from public view.
Advertising
The app may display advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Where ads are shown, Google may use your device advertising ID to limit repeat ads, measure performance and, if you have allowed it, personalise what you see.
You control this from your device. Under Android settings, in Google, then Ads, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, which stops it being used to personalise advertising. Google explains its own handling of this data in the Google Privacy and Terms.
What the app never collects
- Your name, email address or phone number, unless you type one into a message or onto the wall yourself.
- Your contacts, your photos, your files, your messages or your call history.
- Financial, payment or health information of any kind.
- Your precise coordinates, which are never sent to our servers.
- Anything at all while you are outside the app.
Who receives data
We do not sell data and we do not share it with data brokers. It reaches only the services needed to run the app:
- Supabase, our backend Stores anonymous statistics, crash reports, your messages to us, and wall submissions. It also serves the widget and wallpaper catalogue to the app.
- Open-Meteo Receives coordinates to return current weather, and only while a weather widget is in use. No identifier is sent with the request.
- Google Play Handles purchases, subscriptions and app updates.
- Google AdMob Serves advertising where advertising is shown.
Everything the app sends travels over an encrypted connection.
Permissions the app asks for
- Location, optional Requested only when you turn on prayer times or add a prayer or weather widget. Decline it and the app falls back to a default city, which you can change by hand. You can revoke it at any time in Android settings.
- Battery optimisation exemption, optional Asked once, so widgets keep refreshing reliably. Refusing it does not disable anything, but widgets may update less often on some phones.
- Saving wallpapers When you download a wallpaper it is written to your device gallery. The app reads nothing else from your storage.
Keeping and deleting data
Anonymous statistics and crash reports are kept only for as long as they are useful for improving the app. Because there is no account, uninstalling the app stops all further collection immediately.
To have data already sent from your device removed, email us and include your installation ID, which the app shows in the profile screen. To remove a public wall entry, use the withdraw option inside the app, or write to us and we will remove it for you.
Children
Wadiget is made for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the app changes. The date at the top of this page always shows when it was last revised, and it is worth a look from time to time.
